Our Work

Our policy and advocacy work taps into the expertise that Start Early has built over its 40-year history as a leader in early learning program and policy work.

We work at the legislative and administrative levels to secure robust, equitable and sustainable state and local policies and funding that prioritizes equitable access to high quality services for Washington state’s youngest children — prenatal through age 5 — and their families.

Legislative Advocacy

Administrative Advocacy

Informing design and implementation of federal, state and local programs, policies and practices.

We aim to:

  • Strengthen and expand Washington state’s early learning systems, including home visiting.
  • Work to increase Washington state’s early learning advocacy and policy capacity by promoting a comprehensive prenatal-to-age 5 system across the state.
  • Increase the visibility and voice of early childhood education and advance racial equity in Washington state.
  • Partnering with public and private organizations to provide children and families across the state with high quality early learning opportunities.
